Vegaaniliitto, The Vegan Society of Finland, promotes veganism and vegetarianism in the country. Its main function is to inform and educate people about the issues dealing with the vegan way of living. It also organises public campaigns, and publishes its own online magazine Vegaia. Vegaaniliitto has over 700 members and it is mainly working on a voluntary base. Vegaaniliitto bases its ideology mainly on animal rights, ecological issues, and health.
Finnish supermarkets, and local shops are usually fairly well supplied with vegan foods. The situation is getting better all the time. Plant-based food is available in many Finnish restaurants.
